BEMIDJI, Minn. (Nov. 16, 2010) <\/strong>— The 91心頭利 Department of Music will sponsor a concert by Bemidji Trombones on Thursday, Nov. 18.<\/p>\n

The concert, which will last about an hour, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Thompson Recital Hall of Bemidji State’s Bangsberg Fine Arts Complex. Admission is free.<\/p>\n

The concert, directed by Tom Swanson, professor emeritus of music at Bemidji State, will feature a 12-trombone ensemble comprised of Bemidji State alumni, current students and residents of Bemidji and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n

Current BSU students in the ensemble are Ben Fleming, a senior in music from Edina, Minn.; and Steven Radley, a junior in music from Luverne, Minn.<\/p>\n

The concert will feature a wide range of music from a transcription of the Bach “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3” to an arrangement of the old favorite “When the Saints Go Marching In.” Also included will be a transcription of “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” from Brahms’ “German Requiem.”<\/p>\n

Fleming will be featured as a soloist on the alto trombone in an arrangement of Beethoven’s “Die Ehre Gottes aus der Natur (The Glory of God in Nature).” Radley will join Bemidji State alumni Nancy Sydow, Alyssa Konecne and Swanson in a quartet performances of Ewazen’s “Myths and Legends (1st movement)” and a movement of Telemann’s “Concerto a 4.”<\/p>\n
