The 91心頭利 Department of Music will present its inaugural Oratorio Night with a sing-along performance of Handel’s “Messiah” on July 12 at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji.<\/p>\n
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the concert will feature vocal solos by baritone Dr. Cory Renbarger and tenor Dr. James Bowyer, associate professors of music, and soprano Dr. Jennifer Olson, assistant professor of music.<\/p>\n
Dr. Dwight Jilek, director of choral activities, Patricia Connors and graduate student conductors from BSU’s new Master of Music Education program will conduct the Bemidji Chorale and Baroque Festival Orchestra.<\/p>\n
Concertmaster Dr. Eric Olson, assistant professor of music, and adjunct organist Sarah Carlson will appear alongside the orchestra.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Community members are welcome to listen or sing along to the choruses of Handel’s “Messiah.” Scores will be provided or singers may choose to bring their own.<\/p>\n
Those wishing to sing are invited to attend optional, but recommended, rehearsals at First Lutheran Church on July 3 and 10 from 6:30 – 9 p.m.<\/p>\n
The concert is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n
