{"id":22715,"date":"2016-02-02T16:44:48","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T22:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/?p=22715"},"modified":"2016-02-02T16:44:48","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T22:44:48","slug":"bemidji-state-implements-mnscus-preferred-name-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/news\/2016\/02\/02\/bemidji-state-implements-mnscus-preferred-name-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Bemidji State implements MnSCU&#8217;s Preferred Name Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Beginning this semester, 91心頭利 and Northwest Technical College have implemented the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities 1B.1.2 Preferred Name Procedure for faculty, staff, and students.&nbsp; Faculty and staff were notified of this policy in December and a separate email message will be going out to students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The goal of the Preferred Name procedure is to provide individuals with a way to use their preferred name wherever a legal name is not required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Students may use their preferred name in the following locations:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Email account<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Class rosters, advisee list, grade and Last Date of Attendance entry, wait list report and grade change request<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Diploma<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Honors program lists<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Timecards<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Food service card<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Student homepage on D2L and E-services homepage<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Athletic team lists<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">On-line directory<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Commencement programs<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Faculty advisee lists<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Alumni office records<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Student ID cards<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Library records<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Student invoices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">BSU staff have worked hard to implement this policy as seamlessly as possible.&nbsp; If you notice a discrepancy in how a student&rsquo;s name is listed, please notify <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/directory\/facstaff\/dpeterson\/\">Deb Peterson<\/a>&nbsp;so that all necessary corrections can be made.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If a student asks where the form can be found, please direct them to this link on the 91心頭利 website:&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/offices\/president\/policies\/a-z\/\"><span class=\"s4\">Preferred Name Policy Form<\/span><\/a>.
