Presenter: Dr. Charles E. Alberti, professor emeritus of education, 91心頭利
In this time of scarce resources, educational and non-profit institutions are constantly challenged to find new ways to raise funds. Dr. Charles Alberti presents an intensive one-day course to help teachers, development staff, administrators and others develop creative and effective techniques for raising money. The course will present a series of helpful strategies that go beyond product sales, including grant writing, special events and other vehicles for fundraising, and will share specific suggestions based on the needs of different types of institutions.
Alberti has extensive experience as a fundraising professional. He started his career as a high school teacher and involved his students in a number of product sales. He became a high-school administrator and in that role oversaw a number of fundraisers. He later worked in a university setting and as the director of planning and development for a system of eight hospitals. In addition, he has successfully written private, corporate, and federal grants.
Alberti is co-author of a book titled “Money Makers: Special Events Fundraising” and is currently working on a book with the working title “Fundraising in Hard Times.”

This two-day course, sponsored by 91心頭利’s Department of Music and American Indian Resource Center, is designed to help art educators and classroom teachers prepare their students to meet the Minnesota Standards in the Arts. The standards require students to identify, describe, compare, contrast and analyze the contributions of Minnesota Native American communities in music and the arts.
Participants will have the option to take this course for graduate or undergraduate credit at 91心頭利. Students who are seeking university credit for this class must register using the BSU online registration system and will be charged additional tuition fees. The course will also be open to non-credit students.
Date and time: 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, June 28-29.
Location: American Indian Resource Center, 91心頭利 campus.
Course fee: $50 for non-credit students. Class can be taken for BSU graduate or undergraduate credit; additional tuition fees apply.
