If you are a Minnesota resident under age 27 and were in the Minnesota foster care system at any point after your 13th birthday, this grant may help cover your education costs at Bemidji State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can 91¿´Æ¬Íø<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for this grant, you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a Minnesota resident (including those applying via the MN Dream Act Application)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be younger than 27 years old<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend a Minnesota public or participating private higher education institution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have been in the Minnesota foster care system after your 13th birthday, were adopted from foster care after age 13, or placed with a permanent legal custodian after age 13<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have graduated from high school or equivalent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have submitted a FAFSA or Minnesota Dream Act application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress as defined by your institution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Much Money You Can Receive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The grant acts as a &ldquo;last dollar&rdquo; financial aid program, meaning it covers remaining costs after other forms of aid are applied. The calculation is different for public and private institutions but generally subtracts expected family contributions, other federal\/state gift aid, tribal scholarships and specific foster care benefits from the cost of attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Annual Award Limitations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students enrolled in a 2-year program can receive up to 3 annual awards or equivalent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students enrolled in a 4-year program can receive up to 5 annual awards or equivalent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligibility for the grant ends if a student has earned a baccalaureate degree, attended the equivalent of 8 full-time semesters, or received the grant for five years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Process<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Minnesota Dream Act application.
