Understand Your StarID Account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your StarID is the 2-letter-4-number-2-letter username assigned to you the first time you applied to a Minnesota State school (including PSEO or college in the school.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once accepted to BSU, your StarID is used to log in to the campus wireless networks, all campus computers, technology services and applications (including your Admitted Student Portal and MyBSU) and student email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To reset your password, go to the StarID Self-Service<\/i><\/a> website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access Your Admitted Student Portal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Future students can find important information in their personalized Admitted Student Portal<\/i><\/a>. This includes a detailed checklist, next steps toward attending BSU including signing up for class registration, and connecting with other future students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will have access to this portal between 24-48 hours of being admitted to BSU!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note:<\/em> this portal is designed to keep you on track from the day you’re admitted to the day you start classes. After classes begin, rely on your MyBSU portal. Non-degree seeking students will not have access to this portal, and can work with an advisor to select classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accept Your Offer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From your Admitted Student Portal, tell us you plan to accept your offer of admission at BSU!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access MyBSU Portal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Get comfortable logging into your MyBSU<\/a> portal which gives you access to your student email (Outlook), E-Services, and D2L online classroom. Pay special attention to the username formatting since it will be different for MyBSU and email access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submit Housing Application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The housing application opens October 1st for accepted students<\/strong>. Submit your Housing Application<\/a>, sign the housing terms of agreement, and make the $150 pre-payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bemidji State has a first-year live on requirement (some exceptions apply). To read more about this policy, please review the Residential Living Requirement Policy<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Housing and Residential Life<\/h2><\/div>

Our Housing and Residential Life staff will get you up to speed on the room and roommate selection processes, give you additional information on meal plan options, and cover all the details, dates, and deadlines for fall move-in.<\/p><\/div>

Submit Foundation Scholarship Application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

BSU’s Foundation Scholarship Application<\/a> opens in mid-October and typically closes February 1st. You must be admitted before you can apply for these scholarships. New and returning students are encouraged to apply early!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submit Your FAFSA Application<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The FAFSA<\/i><\/a> application opens each year in December. If you require any assistance, don’t hesitate to contact the Financial Aid office<\/a> at 218-755-2034 or financialaid@bemidjistate.edu<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financial Aid and Billing<\/h2><\/div>

Our Financial Aid staff will discuss how to move forward from your award letters, loan types and options and other parts of the awards package like work-study options on campus. Members of our Business Office will discuss when to expect your bill and how to access it as well as how to pay your bill and purchase other important items such as a parking pass.<\/p><\/div>

Sign Up for Registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Admitted undergraduate students have access to all next steps in their personalized Admitted Student Portal<\/i><\/a>. The Admitted Student Portal is your personalized hub for all things BSU. Be sure to check it often for updates, announcements, and resources tailored to keep you on track for your class registration and move to campus next fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your first step? Accept your offer of admission to BSU! Once you’ve secured your spot, you’ll be able to choose registration options for your first semester as soon as they become available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receive Preliminary FAFSA Award Letter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Preliminary financial aid award letters are sent out starting in January. You will be able to officially accept awards in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Begin Your Roommate Search<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Within your housing application (in E-Services) you can begin the roommate search process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Confirm Housing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In June, you will be able to select your residence hall, room, and confirm your roommate. Follow the instructions you will receive via email from reslife@bemidjistate.edu<\/a>. This will include the date and time of your selection window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Send Final High School and College Transcripts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Make sure to contact your high school and submit your final high school transcript (after graduation). The final high school transcript is required for continued enrollment at BSU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are a transfer student or have any college level credits, please make sure that all final official transcripts are sent to BSU Admissions<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Submit Your Forms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Submit your Immunization Form<\/a>. Documentation needed varies based on the state your graduated high school from and the year that you graduated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you need to share information with your legal guardians, be sure to complete the Release of Information form.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All motor vehicles that park on campus during the academic year are required to display a current permit for the area in which they will be parked. In order to purchase a parking permit, the vehicle must be pre-registered online<\/a> or at the Cashiers Office (2nd floor Deputy Hall), (218) 755-2045. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sexual Violence Prevention Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The SVPT program<\/a> provides critical information about responsible behaviors and decision-making regarding non-discrimination, dating and relationships violence, and harassment. You will receive an email at the beginning of August with instructions on how to complete this training. All students must complete this online program early in their first semester to be eligible to enroll in future semesters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obtain Your BSU Student ID<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your ID card<\/a> is your lifeline. You can obtain one on campus or submit a request for one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attend Orientation and Welcome Week<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As one of the state’s oldest teaching institutions, we understand the importance of establishing yourself early on campus. The students who join clubs and organizations, and find satisfying courses, are those most likely to succeed and earn a degree. To facilitate these bonds, BSU has developed a series of programs that help students make those first connections with the campus community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome Week<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the first week of fall classes, BSU hosts a series of campus-wide events that bring students out into the courtyards to socialize and interact. From movies on the lawn to free pancakes and prizes awarded to students who discover new things on campus, we make sure the first introduction to campus life is exciting and comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FYE Seminars<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Few students arrive at BSU with all the skills they need to tackle college life. The First Year Experience seminars<\/a> are a recommended program for all new students. Topics such as studying, making responsible decisions, and practical introductions to student services, ensure you will know how to get the resources you need to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FYE Seminars are offered each fall semester by faculty from almost every academic department on campus and will introduce new students to professional staff and other peers with whom they might not ever have the opportunity to meet and develop associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FYRE Residential Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For most students, college is their first experience living away from home. Suddenly moving into a dorm, meeting a new roommate, and sharing space with lots of new people can be stressful. Our FYRE program<\/a> helps ease students into campus living, building a bond with residential advisors and establishing patterns of study and socializing that are essential in the first year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Life<\/h2><\/div>

Our team from the Hobson Student Union, Gillett Wellness Center, and Student Center for Health and Counseling will be available to guide you through those crucial last-minute details. They’ll cover everything from what to expect at orientation to the array of campus recreation and intramural opportunities awaiting you. Plus, they’ll provide insights into the medical and mental health support services available on campus.<\/p><\/div>
