Student will work with program advisor(s) to create an individual plan of study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 3: After completing the MAT FasTrack New Student Orientation Course<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Register in the upcoming fall or spring semester for your first semester coursework: ED 6101 Educational Foundations and ED 6107 Advanced Educational Psychology<\/li>\n<li>For students applying in the spring: Work with your program advisor to discuss options for summer courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 4: Secure a practice teacher mentor prior to starting field experience hours. *This will be explained to you during your first semester courses<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Select your mentor carefully and ensure they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemidjistate.edu\/academics\/professional-education\/fastrack\/mentors\/\">meet all requirements<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Have your mentor complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/pages\/responsepage.aspx?id=xscRULQKq0ae9PrnSpIaf8RafTqbrxFHnca_yJ3ccZFUOUVVSE03M0s0SkQzTThVMUhCVjNBUzZMVi4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">FasTrack Mentor Application<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 5: Provide evidence of student liability insurance before you begin courses<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Each academic year taking courses, all current MAT FasTrack students must obtain student liability insurance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You are required <\/strong>to purchase student liability insurance <strong>before <\/strong>stepping into the classroom for your classroom experience. <strong><em>It is your responsibility to renew your student insurance every August at the start of the academic year. <\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Purchase liability insurance from <a href=\"https:\/\/educationminnesota.org\/membership-benefits\/join-now\/aspiring-educator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Education Minnesota<i title=\"External link\" class=\"bsu-icon bsu-icon-external-link small ms-1\"><\/i><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>BEFORE ATTENDING your first semester: <\/strong>Please send verification that you purchased Student Liability Insurance to our program manager at <a href=\"mailto:fastrack@bemidjistate.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">fastrack@bemidjistate.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>More info: Start Teaching<\/h2>\n<p>Students may apply for teaching jobs when enrolled in MAT FasTrack. Any school that hires you is responsible for applying for the teacher candidate&rsquo;s Tier 1 or Tier 2 license.<\/p>\n<p>If hired, your appointment can serve as your student teaching experience if your desired license area aligns with the subjects and grade levels being taught in the classroom setting.
