DLiTE is a comprehensive elementary education licensure program for both rural and urban students who cannot attend a full-time, campus-based teacher education program. It is a six semester (three-year) course of study that culminates in a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and teacher license eligibility. A four semester (two-year) option is also available. New cohorts start each Spring (January) and Fall (August) semester.<\/p>\n
Online learning in the program involves using the web-based instructional management system‚ D2L Brightspace<\/strong><\/i><\/a>. Because DLiTE is a degree program, most students are eligible for financial aid<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n The DLiTE program meets all requirements of the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB<\/i><\/a>) for teacher licensure in the state of Minnesota. If you are living in another state and interested in seeking licensure in a state other than Minnesota, you will need to follow that state’s requirements for teacher licensure candidacy. Please contact the Department of Education in your state<\/i><\/a> to learn about the requirements for licensure in your state.<\/p>\n Attendance at virtual meetings is mandatory. We meet online to start the courses and take each semester’s finals. The meetings typically run Friday-Sunday. We will have 1 in-person meeting each year. Location is TBD.<\/p>\n Student teaching is completed in the last semester of the program and is done in-person in a K-6 public elementary school. Teaching assignments are given to students in areas near where they live.<\/p>\n Interested in DLiTE?
